SCRUFFY DUFFERS AND FLORIDA STATE FIRE SERVICE ASSOCIATION GRILL OFF FOR MDA
ORLANDO, Fla., May, 28, 2009—On Saturday, June 6, the Florida State Fire Service Association Local S20 and Scruffy Duffers will participate in a “Battle of the Grills” competition to benefit MDA.
The event will be held at Scruffy Duffers on White Cedar Road from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Twenty teams will participate in this year’s cook off in hopes of being named the official champion of the competition. All of the teams will bring out their secret recipes to be sampled by attendees and judges.
The event is opened to the public. The entry fee for the event is $5 per person. This charge covers all food sampled at each team’s station. Drinks are not included.
The public will have the opportunity to vote on the teams as well as enter a raffle, where the grand prize includes free tickets to the NASCAR WinnDixie race.
Judging for the competition will begin at 4 p.m.
Proceeds from the Grill off will help MDA provide services to local families, such as expert medical care at MDA clinics, summer camp for youngsters, purchases and repairs of wheelchairs, leg braces or communication devices and other scientific research treatments and cures.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat 43 neuromuscular diseases through worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far reaching professional and public education.
